This study analyzes research groups dedicated to the daycare theme registered in the Directory of Research Groups (DGP) of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) in Brazil. The research, of a documentary and bibliographic nature, focused on the period from 1988 to 2021, directing the inquiry to the documentation of the respective groups. Combining the prosopographical approach and Multiple Correspondence Analysis (MCA), the objective was to identify, relate, and interpret the dynamics of these research groups. Despite the groups claiming to conduct research on daycare, the results indicate a significant scarcity of scientific publications and graduate guidance effectively focused on this theme. This contrast between declared interest and actual scientific production exposes a concerning imbalance in the field of early childhood education in Brazil.
