This paper aims to report the experience of developing a pedagogical proposal for Physical Education teaching in municipal schools from Cuiabá, Mato Grosso, Brazil, based on the assumptions of continuing education, collaborative work and the generation of teaching knowledge. The methodology consisted of monthly meetings between researchers and 150 teachers from municipal schools, seeking to diagnose current schools’ reality, establish goals for education, as well as define contents, workload and evaluation procedures in Physical Education classes development. The procedures adopted for the proposal’s development were based on a dialogical relationship between Physical Education teachers from municipal schools and researchers. During the meetings, initially the issues were brought by the researchers and then discussed by the teachers. Following the discussions and reflections, researchers compiled the appropriate information and presented the debate’s stratum. After that, discussions on the following thematic took place. This work’s final product resulted in the publication of the pedagogical proposal as a book, which was distributed to all municipal schools and its Physical Education teachers. This proposal implementation is already in progress, performed by another partnership between Federal University of Mato Grosso and Cuiaba’s municipal schools, establishing a continuing education process for 2013 and 2014.
