Abstract

This text was written with the objective of reflecting about the act of researching in the field of History of Education. Methodologically, the whole process was discussed in the weekly meetings of the “Group of Studies and Research in History of Education of Ceará (GEPHEC)”. From the research project until its completion it was possible to cast doubts on the production of knowledge in this field. Through collective reflection about the research on the history of education and its uniqueness, the theoretical and methodological aspects concerning their episteme were discussed. The theoretical references privileged authors such as Bloch (2005), Hobsbawm (1994, 1998), Arrighi (2006), Gatti (2007), Saviani (2005) among others. It is concluded that research in the area of education, from the point of view of history, requires passion and inventiveness combined with ethical and methodological rigor. If one wants to research in this area, one needs to keep in mind that in the very act of researching there is an ongoing learning process that is primarily transdisciplinary.

Doutor em Educação Brasileira. Professor Adjunto do Departamento de Fundamentos da Educação e Professor Permanente do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação Brasileira da Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC). Coordena pesquisa na área de História e Memória da Educação Escolar do Ceará. Líder do Grupo de Estudos e Pesquisas em História da Educação do Ceará (GEPHEC/PPGE/UFC).

Elione Maria Nogueira Diógenes, UFAL

Graduada em História e Doutora em Políticas Públicas. Ocupa o cargo de professor adjunto II do Centro de Educação e é professora permanente do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação da Universidade Federal de Alagoas. Atua como professora colaboradora do Mestrado em Avaliação de Políticas Públicas/UFC. Desenvolve pesquisas na área de políticas públicas da educação, história e memória da educação escolar. Pesquisadora do Grupo de Estudos e Pesquisas em História da Educação do Ceará (GEPHEC/PPGE/UFC).

Ana Maria Leite Lobato, IFPA

mestra em Educação Brasileira pela UFC. Está cursando Doutorado em Educação pela mesma Universidade. É professora do ensino básico técnico e tecnológico do Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Pará. Membro do Grupo de Estudos e Pesquisas em História da Educação do Ceará (GEPHEC/PPGE/UFC).
