AFFIRMATIVE ACTIONS AND DEMOCRACY IN CONTEMPORARY EDUCATION

The late twentieth century and the beginning of the twenty-first century have produced a model of democracy that seeks to bring together the right of minorities guaranteed by the quota system, the understanding of "education for all" as a crucial factor for the production of a possible equality, and finally, the action of political institutions to better organize social conflicts. Clearly these ideas, in order to become real, require formulas that should put them "in practice", particularly because that confronts an entire cultural system produced over two centuries at least (the political, economic and social system called liberalism). Thus, to account for the "education for all" it is imperative to think of tying the curriculum to social issues and their demands. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the role of the curriculum in the process.
