Educational policy from Bourdieu's field theory

The present investigation results from a bibliographical research of hermeneutic and analytical perspective. The text aims to contribute to the discussions about the epistemic field of Educational Policy, using the Field Theory of Pierre Bourdieu. Besides Bordieu's works, the discussion follows closely the discussion of the work edited by Michael Grenfell - Pierre Bourdieu: Fundamental Concepts regarding the Theory of the Field, and approaches the investigations of CesarTello, Jeferson Mainardes and Ângelo Ricardo de Souza regarding the discussions about the epistemic field of Educational Politics. The theme has been gaining emphasis in the context of educational sciences and, in this sense, claiming more attention and reflection on its object, its scope, as well as the fundamental and structuring concepts of the field. Joining theoretical efforts that seek to understand and situate the research in the field, the text starts with a brief reconstruction of the basic concepts for the definition of the field of Educational Policy, such as politics, education, public policy, and educational policies. Then, it deals with the analysis of the conceptual triad of the Field Theory: field, habitus and capital. Based on this conceptual review, the text concludes with some reflections about educational policies through an approach to the Field Theory in an analogical way, highlighting the potential of Boudieu's thought to think about the field of Educational Policies.
