This article discusses education in its relation to the neoliberal state in Brazil. As an institution funded and/or regulated by the state, institutionalized education has responded to specific merchandising targeted proposals and purposes by limited groups, oriented in the structural field defined primarily by schools. In these spaces, education pursued by agents of education (policy makers, teachers, students, communities in general), promotes an education that encourages the reproduction of traditional social rules, but also acts as a valve to think and question the inequalities imposed by such rules.Key words: Neoliberal State; Education; Commodity.
