The initial reflection found in modern philosophers, and recaptured today, must be updated so that we can move forward widely into State, public life and society’s areas. Philosophy and its teaching, teachers’ preparing and the curriculum being taught fits this perspective. Secularism, a contemporary ideal, returns to scene once more as a challenge from the perspective of the philosophy to be taught in schools. The explanation of the underlying concepts, not just as argumentative exercise, but mostly for better understanding and targeting a satisfactory practical and effective school reality in our country, will be our main objectives. This paper will focus on this perspective.
Key words: Teaching philosophy, Secularism, Modernity, Philosophical formation.
